About the role

Our Independent Visiting service seeks volunteers in or near Aldridge to support children and young people in care.

Volunteer responsibilities

• Support children and young people through activities like going to the cinema, bowling, sports, dining out, biking, or walking in the park.
• Build a trusting relationship, sharing common interests.
• No prior experience working with children is required; full training and support are provided.

Ideal volunteer

• Fun, reliable, enthusiastic, from diverse backgrounds.
• Able to commit to at least 24 months with one visit per month.
• Interested in children\’s development and welfare.

Current young people waiting for volunteers

• Amy (12): Likes sports.
• Brad (13): Needs outings and fun activities.
• Cassie (16): Needs confidence-building and local outings.
• Danny (11): Likes parks, aeroplanes, animals.
• Emma (9): Enjoys solo activities and trying new things.

• Most visits occur on weekends and after school.
• Complete the personal statement on the application form; it helps with shortlisting.
