We are very excited to announce a job opportunity in our West Sussex DAWN Service for a Drug and Alcohol Family Practitioner. You will be supporting families to access drug and alcohol treatment, undertaking assessments and providing interventions around substance use including one to one and group work, undertaking home visits and linking with a range of other professionals to support people with their mental and physical health and other issues such as domestic abuse. Our service works across West Sussex and you will be based in one of our locality hubs as well as co-locating with West Sussex County Council. A comprehensive package of training will be offered to the successful candidates based on individual skills and knowledge.
Where: West Sussex – Chichester / Bognor
Hours: 18 hours per week over 3 days (example 9:30am to 16:30)
Contract: Permanent
Please note: Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours. Salary is subject to review in line with the 2025/26 pay award.
Responsibilities
About the role:
- To support families to engage with Drug and Alcohol Services.
- Assist in co-ordinating access to Drug and Alcohol interventions for families as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team.
- To deliver evidenced based harm reduction and psychosocial interventions.
- To proactively refer and support families with accessing appropriate services.
- Participate in assertive outreach to support families access treatment.
- To represent CGL in appropriate forums and networks, both locally and nationally, advocating for family’s wellbeing and recovery.
- To contribute to the promotion of the service.
- To be part of a high performing team that achieves targets as set across a range of key deliverables.
You will be co-located with West Sussex County Council Family Safeguarding Team, working in a multi-disciplinary team alongside Children’s Social Workers, Emotional wellbeing practitioners, Domestic Abuse Officers, and Domestic Abuse Victim practitioners. To help facilitate access to pharmacological and psycho-social interventions in a one to one or group-based setting, including carrying out home visits. A full UK driving licence and access to your own car is required.
About you:
- The post holder will have knowledge and/or experience of working with families.
- Experience working in drug and alcohol services.
- The ability to travel using own vehicle, work remotely and autonomously.
- The experience of engaging with families who have a variety of backgrounds and needs.
- The ability to work with and manage challenging behaviour.
- Commitment, knowledge and experience of multi-agency working e.g. children services, domestic abuse, mental health services, criminal justice agencies.
- Good knowledge of safeguarding relating to adults and children.
