Can you use motivational interviewing to support people to engage in new activities and move out of their comfort zone? We have an exciting opportunity for a Wellbeing Recovery Worker to join our team at HMP Bristol. You will be working in the prison specifically with people on the Integrated Offender Management Programme. You will support individuals building their own wellbeing plans, and coordinating a range of creative and therapeutic groups. You will also be responsible for the logistics of reporting, room booking, arranging prisoner movement, and liaising with delivery partners.

Part Time Hours: 18 per week

Full Time Salary Range: £27,861.26 - £32,002.35*

Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract until 31st March 2027.

* Full-time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part-time roles, the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours. This post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check at an enhanced level and prison vetting.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with people in prison on the Integrated Offender Management (IOM) programme to promote wellbeing activities.
  • Provide a regular Wellbeing Café where people can explore their wellbeing and take part in entry level creative and therapeutic activities.
  • Support the delivery of structured wellbeing interventions such as yoga classes, art and music sessions.
  • Coproduce wellbeing plans and set and review goals with participants.
  • Provide records of all one to one and group attendances.
  • Arrange prisoner movement and appropriate room bookings.
  • Promote the service across the prison with partners and potential participants.

About you:

  • Have a strong understanding of substance misuse issues and experience of working within a similar field.
  • Experience of working with groups/pods and managing group dynamics, such as conflict or challenging behaviour.
  • Be an excellent communicator, both verbal and written with good IT skills.
  • Proactive and able to work on own initiative with excellent time management and prioritising skills.
  • Experience of working within a prison/criminal justice setting.
  • An interest in therapeutic and creative activities to promote wellbeing.
