Volunteers make an enormous contribution to our work at Change Grow Live. Last year, over 1400 volunteers donated over a quarter of a million hours of their time to our organisation. Would you like to join our growing team of volunteers and make a real difference?

At Change Grow Live, you will be working with people to help them change the direction of their life, grow as an individual, and live life to its full potential. As an Alcohol support volunteer, you will be working as part of the Alcohol team, assisting them in their caseload management, supporting the service user through all aspects of their treatment journey. This can include completing assessments, supporting people to attend community and inpatient detoxes, assisting group work, and undertaking one-to-one work. You will be an integral team member and will play an active role in helping our service users achieve their goals. You will receive training and support, and you could work towards holding a small caseload of clients.

Key Activities:
  • Support the alcohol team interventions (health checks, personalised assessment) and reviews.
  • Support service users achieve their agreed drink down plans by providing 1:1 support.
  • Providing 1:1 key work sessions including harm reduction advice and recovery planning.
  • Support in the delivery of Extended Brief Interventions (EBI) and relapse prevention.
  • Co-facilitate/Facilitate alcohol education and support groups.
  • Undertake recovery check-ins with service users.
  • Support and encourage service users to engage in recovery activities both within Change Grow Live and the wider community.
  • Support service users to achieve their care plan goals.
  • Help keep service users engaged in treatment.
  • Support our service users pre and post detox by information review.
  • Provide aftercare support via telephone and one-to-one to those who have left treatment.
  • Support in administrative work relating to the service users' treatment journey.

Please note that we require you to be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this volunteering role. This post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at an enhanced level.
