Iβm looking for an experienced and driven Test Engineer to join my clients growing Data & Analytics practice.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on enterprise-scale data transformation and analytics programmes, ensuring the quality and integrity of modern cloud-based data platforms.
As a Test Engineer, you will work closely with clients, business stakeholders, developers, data engineers, and solution architects to deliver robust testing solutions across data warehousing, business intelligence, reporting, and cloud analytics environments.
Its hybrid working (3 days from home) and you need to live within commuting distance from one of their offices in Edinburgh, London, Manchester, Birmingham or Leeds
The Role
You will be responsible for designing, executing, and managing test activities across a range of data-focused projects leveraging Microsoft technologies.
Key responsibilities include
- Designing and executing test strategies, test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
- Performing functional, integration, system, regression, user acceptance, and data validation testing.
- Testing data solutions
- Validating ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines, and data transformations.
- Conducting database and back-end testing using complex SQL queries.
- Ensuring data quality, completeness, integrity, and reconciliation across multiple systems.
- Identifying, documenting, tracking, and managing defects through to resolution.
- Working collaboratively with Agile delivery teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Supporting test automation initiatives where appropriate.
- Producing clear and concise testing documentation and reports for stakeholders.
Skills & Experience
- Experienced Test Engineer, Test Analyst, or QA Engineer
- Experience testing data-centric applications and analytics platforms
- Strong MS SQL Server skills, including query writing and data validation
- Experience testing cloud-based solutions within Microsoft Azure
- Understanding of Azure Databricks and data engineering workflows
- Knowledge of data warehouses, ETL/ELT processes, and data migration testing
- Excellent defect management and root cause analysis skills
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments
- Strong stakeholder management and client-facing communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Experience within Financial Services, Retail, Utilities, Public Sector, or Insurance sectors
Desirable Skills
- ISTQB Foundation or Advanced Certification
- Experience with test automation tools and frameworks
- Experience validating dashboards, reports, and datasets within Power BI
