About the Role

Due to the expanding sales of Changan vehicles as well as new models being introduced to the market, we are looking for a Technical Specialist in Vehicle Dynamics, to provide expert direction and support in achieving the driving experience expected by Changan customers. The successful candidate will have a leading role in defining and delivering vehicle dynamics attributes for Changan products for both the European and domestic markets.

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical, Automotive or equivalent engineering subject
  • 8+ years of subjective and/or objective ride and handling experience
  • Expert knowledge of suspension, steering and braking systems, both passive and adaptive, including detailed knowledge of suspension kinematics and compliance performance
  • In depth knowledge of calibration and tuning of suspension, steering, and braking systems, both passive and adaptive
  • Strong knowledge of modelling and simulation techniques associated with vehicle ride and handling
  • Ability to travel and work independently on vehicle projects, in local markets
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide detailed reports to all levels of the organisation

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide support for vehicle dynamics development both in the UK and abroad, as required
  • Execute hardware tuning and software calibration of region-specific vehicles with respect to vehicle dynamic attribute targets
  • Assist in determining hardpoints for suspension components required to support the kinematic and compliance system requirements
  • Review simulation results and objective test data, highlight target achievement and provide recommendations for areas of non-compliance
  • Provide support for the Changan China vehicle dynamics team, through targets, best practice techniques, training and knowledge transfer to support product improvements
  • Support the generation and cascading of targets and best practice processes
  • Lead subjective and objective benchmarking of vehicle dynamics for Changan and competitor products
  • Travel abroad in support of testing and development, particularly Europe and China

Competitive salary package, negotiable depending on qualifications and experience.
