About the Role
The Lead, Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting is part of the Global Financial Reporting and Accounting Team, supporting quarterly and annual reporting, including the preparation of Group financial statements in accordance with IFRS. The role focuses on technical accounting topics, maintaining accounting policies and preparing accounting memos on complex and large transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Take a leading role in the preparation process of the Annual Financial Statements of the Chanel Limited Group, in accordance with IFRS, within our financial statement reporting tool.
- Prepare footnote disclosures (financial instruments, business combinations, intangibles, etc.).
- Perform select data validations on quarterly reporting within our group reporting tool, FCCS.
- Prepare analytical review commentary of key balance sheet and P&L reporting lines.
- Prepare select consolidation journal entries for the year‑end audit and quarterly reporting (Q2, Q3, Q4).
- Support the annual goodwill and impairment process, including WACC calculations, compiling impairment memos and drafting related disclosures.
- Research and compose technical accounting papers for complex accounting transactions such as business combinations, derivatives, hedging and ad hoc topics.
- Support aligning conclusions with Group auditors on accounting of complex transactions in a timely manner.
- Ensure the impact of new and existing IFRS/IAS developments is understood, supporting implementation of IFRS 18.
- Provide guidance to the global finance community (markets, regions, and divisional teams) on accounting and reporting matters.
- Maintain accounting policies and procedures in conformity with IFRS, Chanel reporting requirements, and best practices; support adherence to these policies.
- Perform ad hoc analyses and special projects for management.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Qualified ACA or equivalent accountant with minimum 2 years PQE in a similar Group accounting role; Big 4 background preferred.
- Detailed understanding of international accounting and reporting standards (IAS 36, IFRS 3, IFRS 9).
- Strong understanding of multi‑currency complex consolidation.
- Organised, analytical, curious and detail‑oriented, with a questioning mindset to pre‑empt questions on complex topics.
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal and presentation) to summarise and explain complex technical accounting issues succinctly.
- Committed to continuous improvement and development of Group accounting policies and training.
- Team player with experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders; resilient and able to respond constructively to challenge and change.
- Ability to work independently within a team in a multi‑task environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
- Experience with FCCS, TM1 and Essbase advantageous.
