Great career opportunity with this well established manufacturer of Highways Safety Products, the product range is large and includes Bollards, Highways Signage, Grit Bins and Snow Clearance Products. Your role is office based near Preston Monday to Friday (9am to 5pm) with occasional site visits, selling to a mixed market of Local Authorities, Traffic Management Departments, Highways Maintenance Teams and Contractors.
Purpose of the Role
The Sales Executive is responsible for improving sales by proactively identifying new business and developing existing business opportunities. You will be growing sales in road, winter and water safety products. This is primarily an office-based role, focused on proactive customer engagement, opportunity development, and supporting territory growth. Occasional travel is required to engage customers, deliver product demonstrations, and attend industry events.
Key Tasks
- Proactively identify and develop new business opportunities across target sectors
- Conduct virtual product demonstrations and presentations
- Attend face-to-face customer visits when required to support demonstrations and sales activity
- Achieve and exceed sales targets and KPIs
- Build strong, long-term relationships with clients
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure excellent customer service and delivery
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and sales activity
- Understand customer needs and recommend appropriate product solutions
- Interpret sales reports, market trends and relevant highways legislation to identify opportunities
- Participate in team sales meetings and share product and market knowledge
- Support the territory through proactive sales activity and customer engagement
- Manage and grow an existing portfolio of accounts

Key Objectives
- Achieve and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets within the highways sector
- Increase revenue across traffic management, highways maintenance, DLO, and contractor markets
- Identify and develop new business opportunities, building a strong pipeline of qualified leads that convert to sales
- Develop and maintain long-term customer relationships to drive repeat business
- Maintain consistent and high-quality sales activity (calls, demonstrations, meetings) and accurately record within CRM systems
- Develop strong product, sector, and legislative knowledge relevant to highways and safety products
- Effectively position our products against competitors using feature and benefit selling
- Ensure ways of working are aligned with company values, policies, and standards
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and high performance

Person Specification
- Proven experience in sales (B2B preferred).
- Ability to build rapport and develop relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
- Highly self-motivated with a proactive, target driven approach
- Professional, enthusiastic and resilient
- Commercially aware and a willingness to “own” designated territory.
- Demonstrates Company values through accountability, teamwork and a commitment to excellence.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Strong systems or CRM experience.
- Experience in internal sales, account management, business development
- Confidence in delivering both in person and online demonstrations.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Proactive, organized, and adaptable with continuous improvement mindset.
- Ability to sell using features and benefits.
- Willingness to travel for customer visits when required.
The Package
- Up to £32k basic salary
- Monthly commission giving an on target earnings of £38k
