Chancery Quarters is a 35-apartment residential building with three ground-floor commercial units at 122-126 Chancery Lane, in the heart of Holborn, London. The building operates a mix of short-let apartments (some let for as little as one or two nights) and longer residential tenancies, supported by an on-site concierge team and building management. We're looking for a reliable, hands-on Porter/Caretaker to join the on-site team as we invest in a significant refurbishment and maintenance programme across the building.
What you'll do
- Be a visible, reliable presence in the building - communal areas, entrances, corridors and plant areas - keeping everything clean, safe and in good order day to day.
- Carry out minor repairs and general handyman tasks (light bulbs, door furniture, general fixes) and raise anything beyond that with the Building Manager or maintenance provider.
- Support arrivals and departures - helping guests and residents with luggage, deliveries and parcels, particularly around the high turnover of short-let units.
- Assist with the building's rolling snag-inspection and refurbishment programme, including access coordination and basic condition checks.
- Manage bins/refuse store, communal storage and general housekeeping of shared areas.
- Act as an on-site point of contact for contractors (cleaning, HVAC, maintenance) attending site, and help keep the building's reporting up to date.
- Carry out routine health & safety walk-rounds (fire doors, communal lighting, general hazards) and flag issues promptly.
What we're looking for
- Practical, hands-on with basic maintenance/DIY ability - happy to turn your hand to a wide range of small jobs.
- Reliable, punctual and comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
- A friendly, professional manner - this is a customer-facing role in a building with guests as well as residents.
- Physically able to carry out porter duties, including lifting and moving items.
- Flexible availability, including weekends and bank holidays, given the building operates every day.
- Previous experience as a porter, caretaker or in a facilities/hospitality role is an advantage but not essential - full training will be given.
