Champion Flour Milling Limited is seeking an experienced Technical Mill Manager to join our Christchurch Milling team on a permanent full-time basis, working 40 hours per week and reporting to the Head Miller. If you’re passionate about optimising production processes and mechanical systems within the flour milling industry, this role is for you!
About the Role
As Technical Mill Manager, you will lead and enhance the mechanical and production operations of our wheat flour milling facility. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring efficiency, reliability, and continuous improvement across mechanical maintenance, milling yield, and quality performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee daily technical and mechanical mill operations.
- Develop and implement strategic production plans to maximise throughput and efficiency.
- Ensure optimal functionality of mechanical systems and milling equipment.
- Collaborate with plant maintenance teams to establish preventive and corrective maintenance schedules.
- Implement and monitor quality control measures to maintain product excellence.
- Lead, mentor, and support technical and mechanical staff, fostering skill development.
- Analyse performance data to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
- Drive innovation by proposing technological enhancements to optimise mill operations.
What You’ll Bring
- A qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Milling Technology, or a related technical field.
- 5–7 years’ experience in flour milling, food processing, or manufacturing engineering.
- Proven expertise in mechanical systems, production equipment, and plant operations.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (D365 experience is advantageous).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- A solid understanding of the food industry and milling processes.
- Ability to interpret technical data, industry reports, and mechanical specifications.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, prolonged standing, and physical movement required for equipment inspections.
