Principal Research Specialist role on Insight to support Research Managers, Innovation Manager and Director of Insight with key operational and training and development tasks, alongside writing and editing Insight reports.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Insight Product Support: Edit and Quality Assess Insight Reports at the highest level, ensuring that quality is consistent and aligns with customer expectations. Spend around half of the time on core editing and quality assessment duties, depending on workflow. Keep up to date with research progress and changes in the way research is conducted, anticipating the impact on Insight and suggesting ways to adapt processes and approaches. Work within deadlines and balance the shifting responsibilities of this multi-faceted role. Assess the quality of Insight writing and editing, identifying areas for improvement and providing feedback and support to the relevant Research Manager.
  • Workflow Management: Develop a thorough understanding of the Insight workflow to spot delivery risks or potential problems with orders ahead of time and suggest/implement solutions. Monitor Section Lists and report progress for various reports, taking necessary action if there is a blockage or issue. Clarify issues with orders from the Commercial team and take necessary steps to resolve them.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work with the Product function to shape the rollout of changes to both the Insight Product and the process of writing and editing reports. Support Insight Managers and Director on running regular and ad-hoc training sessions for the team and assist with Insight’s internal triage process for writers and editors. Respond to queries from commercial teams on various topics and manage the enquiries of a selection of sales contacts and their clients. Facilitate the exchange of information between Research and Insight concerning Insight reports and production.

Skills and Experience

  • Extensive experience writing and editing Insight reports for customers in a wide range of jurisdictions, or conducting high-level research on various sections.
  • Strong understanding of the needs and expectations of Insight customers.
  • Strong understanding of Insight’s internal processes, systems and approaches or the ability to quickly grasp complex workflow management and IT systems.
  • An evident interest in engaging with changes to the process and product of Insight, as well as other functions of the company (Research, Sales etc.).
