The Learning and Development (L&D) Officer supports the effective delivery of learning initiatives across Chambers and Partners. Responsible for leading induction for all new starters, as well as delivering tailored training given to Research new starters, the L&D officer is involved in the design and delivery of different solutions, using a blended design approach.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Schedule and facilitate onboarding sessions for all new starters, as well as tailored sessions for Research new starters during week 1.
  • Act as the key learning contact for managers and new starters, to support communication and create an engaging onboarding experience for all.
  • Work in partnership with the business to evaluate and continuously improve the onboarding experience.
  • Diagnose, design and deliver a range of training using classroom, online and blended learning.
  • Support the creation and curation of learning on Cornerstone, as well as using content authoring technology to create online learning.
  • Support subject matter experts internally across Chambers to create high quality learning content and materials.
  • Set up learning events including sending calendar invites, booking meeting rooms, sharing pre-reading, tracking registration against attendance.
  • Create a timetable, set up and support subject matter experts to deliver Chambers Practice Area seminars.
  • Update and refresh the learning pages with resources, upcoming learning events and more on the Chambers People Hub and Chambers Hub to drive a learning culture.
  • Provide advice and guidance on learning to employees through use of internal resources.
  • Promote learning opportunities through Chamber's communication channels.

Skills and Experience

  • In depth experience of the Research methodologies at Chambers.
  • Experience of administrative duties and project management.
  • Experience of managing and creating reports and KPI dashboards would be an advantage.
  • Demonstrable experience of working at pace, in a busy people focused team, to challenging deadlines.
  • Experience of presenting to an audience and facilitating training.
  • Understanding of learning theory and best practice learning design principles.
  • Experience of engaging and managing a range of different stakeholders.
  • Experience of video recording and editing would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of and interest in the legal profession.
  • Experience of using Cornerstone or another Learning Management System is desirable, along with confidence in learning and using new systems and tools.

  • Organised, methodical and detailed oriented.
  • Takes initiative and looks to continuously improve the way things are done.
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office skills including Teams, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Achieved, working towards or desire to complete a CIPD learning qualification or similar.
