Leading a team of 7 people based in London, the role requires the successful candidate to devise, sell and produce innovative events in various formats to appeal to our client bases of legal firms, lawyers and General Counsels. The Events Director will have overall P&L responsibility for all events and will oversee the delivery of Chambers events globally. They will drive the growth of revenue from sponsorship and delegate sales, leading a team of 4 salespeople. Events include guide launches, forums, conferences, awards dinners and roundtable discussions. We seek candidates with the experience and abilities to deliver our long‐term growth strategy.
Main Duties and Responsibilities- Develop the strategy to deliver profitable and engaging events to the wide‐ranging client bases.
- Day‐to‐day running of the Events Team comprising of sales, production and content employees.
- Manage the P&L effectively and ensure delivery of the required operating revenues, profit and margins.
- Seek and implement new ways of making the events relevant to our audiences.
- Take ownership of the growth strategy for the Events function ensuring market relevance of the events.
- Recruit, retain and manage the performance of the employees in the Events Team.
- Build and maintain an open, collaborative culture that encourages effective working relationships with other teams.
- Ensure the staging of events matches the expectations of delegates and sponsors and reflects the values of our brand for both commercial and research.
- Be guarantor of the quality and integrity of the events and liaise with the research and editorial teams.
- Collaborate with all key stakeholders which will include sales, research and marketing.
- Extensive expertise with conferences and events and a strong track record in senior management roles within events functions.
- Previous experience of P&L responsibility in growth‐driven events environments.
- Demonstrable strong leadership and managerial abilities.
- Ability to identify business opportunities and enhance profitability.
- Attention to detail and impeccable standards for every aspect of event production are essential.
- Ability to travel regularly, both long and short haul locations.
