We are seeking a strategic yet hands-on Head of Platforms to lead the technology capabilities that power Chambers' business. Managing a team of two Platform Product Owners, you will own the strategy, roadmap and delivery of our core business applications across Research, Customer functions including Sales, Marketing and Events, and Corporate functions such as HR and Finance. Working closely with stakeholders across the organisation, you will translate business goals into scalable, customer focused platform solutions that drive measurable outcomes. Equally comfortable setting the vision and rolling up your sleeves to deliver, you will bring strong technical and data expertise, champion innovation, and identify opportunities to embed AI to enhance efficiency, insight and user experience.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Define, own and execute the strategy and roadmap for Chambers’ internal business applications and platforms, ensuring alignment to the business vision, target operating model and KPIs.
- Look for opportunities to embed AI within business and data processes.
- Act as the point of ownership for prioritisation and analysis across the internal platform portfolio, balancing business need, value, complexity and risk.
- Have accountability for the end-to-end delivery of platform enhancements and transformations.
- Plan and execute to time, effectively managing dependencies, risks, issues and resources (internal or external) and finding solutions to problems.
- Partner with business stakeholders to provide product consultancy for change initiatives, ensuring technology change is aligned to operating models and benefits are realised.
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of platform product owners, providing clear direction, pastoral care and motivation to get the best results.
- Accountable for triaging, managing and coordinating fixes to platform and business application issues, within SLA targets.
- Conduct and oversee user research and process analysis to inform the platform roadmaps and improve the usability and adoption of these platforms.
- Elicit business requirements, write functional specifications, process models, business rules and use cases as applicable, performing gap analysis against capabilities.
- Work with architecture teams to assess and select technology solutions that drive customer growth and engagement, aligned to the target operating model and KPI’s.
- Identify and assess emerging trends, technologies and supplier/sector offerings, building them into platform roadmaps and backlogs as required.
- Champion ‘one team’ agile working practices, supporting rapid benefit delivery and autonomous working.
- Define and track KPIs and delivered benefits.
Skills, Experience & Personal Attributes
- Technically astute, with a good knowledge of engineering processes and frameworks.
- Able to constructively challenge at a technical design level.
- Strong LLM/AI understanding with experience defining and embedding within business and data processes.
- Must be analytically minded, with passion for technology, data and AI landscapes.
- Significant experience leading Platform / Business analysis and delivery, product architect or equivalent in a software/application/digital product environment.
- Experience building, developing and managing technology change programmes to achieve targets and objectives which realise beneficial outcomes.
- Evidence of setting vision and direction, inspiring and engaging the team to deliver.
- Data literate, understanding how data can be structured and manipulated to enhance the business and customer proposition.
- Experience selecting, implementing and iterating a number of the following: Research and data collection platforms, Content management systems & publishing workflows, Marketing & Sales systems (e.g. CRM), Corporate systems (HR, Finance).
