The Director of AI & Analytics is a senior leadership role responsible for defining and delivering Chambers and Partners’ AI and advanced analytics strategy. Reporting to the Chief Data and AI Officer, this role will shape how advanced analytics and AI are embedded across research, products and operations, ensuring they enhance the quality, consistency and scalability of Chambers’ insights while preserving its trusted expert-led approach. This role combines strategic vision with hands-on leadership. You will oversee multidisciplinary teams spanning data science, analytics and applied AI, translating complex business problems into scalable, ethical and high-impact solutions. You will work closely with Research, Product, Technology, Marketing, Submissions Commercial and Sales teams to ensure insights are actionable, trusted and aligned to Chambers’ core mission. As a visible thought leader, the Director of AI & Analytics will help position Chambers at the forefront of AI-enabled legal market intelligence and champion data-driven decision-making, raise analytical maturity, and enable Chambers to move faster, think deeper and deliver greater value to its global audience.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Define and own the enterprise AI and analytics strategy, aligned with Chambers business strategy and objectives and data strategy.
- Lead the development and deployment of advanced AI and analytics solutions – including machine learning, generative AI, large language models, agentic AI – across research, rankings, submissions and product innovation.
- Oversee the end-to-end analytics lifecycle, from data acquisition and feature engineering through to model development, validation, deployment and monitoring.
- Ensure AI-driven outputs are explainable, transparent and aligned with Chambers’ standards and reputation for independence.
- Provide strategic oversight and direction on data platforms, tooling and architecture to ensure AI, analytics and BI capabilities are built on robust, scalable and well-governed foundations.
- Partner with Research leadership to augment expert judgement with analytical insight, improving consistency, scalability and depth of research outcomes.
- Collaborate with Product and Technology teams to embed AI and analytics into customer-facing products and internal platforms.
- Establish best practices for experimentation, model governance, performance measurement and ethical AI use.
- Define and oversee evaluation frameworks for LLM and GenAI outputs, ensuring accuracy, consistency, bias mitigation and alignment with Chambers standards.
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight for Business Intelligence capabilities, including tool implementation, adoption and ongoing success, ensuring BI enables trusted decision making.
- Support the development and monetisation of external Business Intelligence and analytics offerings, including embedded BI and data-driven reports, enabling Chambers and Partners to deliver scalable, insight-led products to customers.
- Lead, mentor and grow high-performing teams of AI Engineers, data scientists, analysts and BI Developers.
- Act as a senior advisor to the executive team on AI opportunities, risks and trade-offs.
- Establish prioritisation frameworks and operating models to balance innovation, research integrity, risk and commercial impact across AI and analytics initiatives.
- Drive analytical literacy and adoption across the organisation through education, storytelling and stakeholder engagement.
- Identify opportunities to monetise insights and analytics through new products, features or services.
- Partner with Legal, Security and Technology teams to ensure AI and analytics solutions comply with data privacy, security, IP and regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate and manage strategic partnerships with external technology vendors, platforms and research partners to accelerate AI and analytics capability.
Skills and Experience
- Significant experience in senior analytics, data science or AI leadership roles, ideally in data-rich or research-driven organisations.
- Proven experience designing, developing and deploying solutions using large language models (LLMs), generative AI and agentic AI systems, from early ideation and experimentation through to production deployment, monitoring and iteration.
- Strong technical understanding of machine learning, statistical modelling, NLP and modern data architectures, with the ability to engage deeply while remaining business-focused.
- Proven experience delivering AI and analytics solutions at scale, from concept through to production.
- Deep understanding of model risk, bias, explainability and ethical AI principles.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex analytical concepts into clear, compelling narratives for non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience building and leading multidisciplinary teams, including hiring, mentoring and performance management.
- Strong commercial acumen, with experience linking analytics to product strategy, customer value or revenue growth.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with a track record of influencing at executive level.
- Degree in a quantitative or analytical discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Economics) or equivalent practical experience.
