Nursery Deputy Manager

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Nursery Deputy Manager role based in the London Area, United Kingdom. The Nursery Deputy Manager will support the Nursery Manager in the day-to-day running of the setting, ensuring high standards of care, education, and safeguarding are consistently maintained. Responsibilities include supervising nursery staff, organizing daily routines, planning age-appropriate activities, and maintaining a positive, inclusive environment for children and families. The role involves monitoring children’s progress, maintaining accurate records, communicating effectively with parents and carers, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and health and safety requirements. The Nursery Deputy Manager will also contribute to staff development through mentoring, training, and performance support.

Qualifications

• Strong safeguarding and safeguarding children skills, with a clear understanding of relevant legislation and best practices.
• Experience in nursery and nursery management, including day-to-day operations, staff supervision, and curriculum planning.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, and colleagues.
• Relevant childcare or early years qualification ( Level 3 or above in Early Years Education or equivalent).
• Knowledge of early years frameworks and standards (such as the EYFS) and experience implementing them in practice.
• Proven ability to lead a team, organize workloads, and maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
• Up-to-date first aid training and health and safety awareness in a childcare setting.
• Ability to work flexibly, use sound judgment, and handle sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion.
