Overview
The Senior Relationship Manager is part of a fast-growing business and a frontrunner in sustainable banking, responsible for delivering growth in the provision of commercial banking lending products, through the development of new and existing customer relationships. This role will have a particular focus on lending to the following sectors: Healthcare (care homes and supported living for the elderly, children in care and adults and children with unique needs), Education (including kindergarten, independent schools and colleges and special needs), Arts & Culture, Religious Organisations and Recreation (including leisure and sustainable/green accredited tourism).
Working as part of the Bank’s UK Commercial Banking team, this role involves communicating with existing business customers and prospective customers, as well as generating new lending enquiries to build on the existing portfolio. You will undertake the more complex and higher risk credit proposals (typically up to £20 million) and the subsequent management and monitoring of a portfolio of borrowers, with a key aim of facilitating positive change within society.
Responsibilities
- To manage an existing portfolio of clients with support from experienced colleagues.
- Generate a pipeline of new business opportunities and lending enquiries, delivering against lending objectives.
- Present credit assessments to the Bank’s UK Credit Committee and contribute to the Committee’s decision-making process.
- Establish and proactively maintain an effective network of key business introducers in the professional business community and use sector expertise to develop and enhance relationships with borrowers and networks.
- Attend and represent the Bank at internal and external events, including involvement in the organisation and delivery of such events.
Required Skills and Experience
- Considerable experience in UK commercial lending and demonstrable success in building and managing a portfolio of customer relationships, as well as building relationships with potential new customers.
- Experience of winning, structuring and delivering new lending up to £20m, with a high level of complexity, risk and exposure.
- Experience of lending to care home operators.
- Advanced credit skills and regarded as subject matter expert, with the ability to deal with complex credit proposals, including groups and unusual structures.
