Role Overview
As an Outreach Tutor (agency worker), you will adapt your approach to each pupil, quickly develop rapport, and support children in reaching their potential. You will deliver tutoring, manage behaviour, and ensure information is retained at the end of each session.
Responsibilities
- Adapt your approach and develop rapport with children and young people.
- Support pupils to achieve their potential and retain information at the end of each session.
- Deliver tutoring in Maths and English, and other subjects as required.
- Ensure proactive behaviour management and support for SEND learners.
- Complete timesheets and pupil reports each week.
- Utilise printable resources and planning sessions; earn bonus schemes when targets are met.
Qualifications and Skills
- Teaching qualifications and experience with SEN learners.
- Strong understanding of SEND.
- Good maths and English skills.
- Behaviour management experience.
- Experience or training with Makaton, MAPA/Team Teach, or autism awareness is advantageous.
- Ability to travel within a reasonable distance.
Working Conditions
- Agency worker: paid per hour of tutoring delivered.
- Assignments typically align with school hours (08:30‑16:00) during term time.
- Assignments may be several hours one day or one hour a day, depending on pupil needs.
- No additional contribution for resources, admin time or travel; support with planning sessions and printable resources is provided.
