The Opportunity

Chalk Hill Group are supporting a leading UK law firm with an established presence in the South Coast market in their recruitment of a Senior Associate with 5+ years PQE to join their highly regarded and growing employment team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Employment Solicitor looking to take the next step in their career, with genuine scope to develop their profile and play a key role in the continued growth of the employment practice. You will work closely with a highly regarded Partner and a prestigious client base, handling a varied caseload of both contentious and non-contentious employment matters. The role offers significant client responsibility, exposure to high-quality work and the opportunity to develop strong commercial relationships.

The successful candidate will be confident managing their own caseload, advising clients independently and handling complex employment matters, while also supporting the Partner on more significant and strategically important work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a varied caseload of contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
  • Advising employers and employees on a broad range of employment issues.
  • Handling Employment Tribunal claims, including complex and high-value matters.
  • Advising on disciplinary and grievance procedures, redundancy, discrimination, unfair dismissal, TUPE and employment contracts.
  • Drafting and negotiating contracts, settlement agreements, policies and other employment documentation.
  • Developing and maintaining strong, long-term client relationships.
  • Working closely with the Partner on complex and high-value matters.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team where appropriate.
  • Contributing to the continued growth and development of the employment practice.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Employment Solicitor with 5+ years PQE, ideally with a strong background across both contentious and non-contentious employment law. You will have:

  • Excellent technical employment law knowledge.
  • Strong experience handling Employment Tribunal matters.
  • The confidence to manage clients and a caseload independently.
  • A commercially focused and pragmatic approach.
  • Excellent communication, drafting and negotiation skills.
  • The ambition to develop your career and play a key role in growing the practice.
  • Previous supervisory, business development or team leadership experience would be advantageous.
