A highly regarded and long-established SME group, based in Christchurch, is seeking an Assistant Financial Accountant to join its central finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a part-qualified accountant or QBE finance professional looking to transition into industry or build on their technical accounting expertise within a diverse and multi-entity environment.
Working within a supportive and collaborative finance team, you will gain exposure to group reporting, statutory accounts, and complex entity structures, making this an excellent career development role. Reporting to the Financial Reporting Manager, you will support the financial reporting function across the group.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with the preparation of statutory accounts in line with UK GAAP
- Supporting group reporting and IFRS-based working papers
- Preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations
- Assisting with corporate and personal tax computations
- Supporting trust and fund accounting
- Reconciling intercompany transactions across multiple entities
- Reviewing entity-level accounting records on a monthly basis
- Contributing to financial reports and ad hoc project work
This is a broad and hands-on role offering excellent exposure across a complex group structure.
About You:
- Degree in Accounting/Finance or relevant practical experience
- Strong understanding of core accounting principles
- Confident Excel user
- Experience with reconciliations and financial data
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Part-qualified (ACCA / ACA / CIMA / AAT)
- Experience preparing statutory accounts under UK GAAP or IFRS
- Experience working in a multi-entity or group environment
- Basic understanding of Corporation Tax
