Purpose

The Sourcing team at Chain IQ is composed of professionals who manage all indirect spend categories for clients. This team provides a comprehensive range of sourcing services tailored to client needs, including market analysis, running market tenders, contract negotiation, and contract drafting. Each team member can handle multiple client projects, engaging in both client‑facing and supplier‑facing roles, and participating in regional sourcing projects as well as global initiatives. The primary function of this team is to deliver value‑added sourcing services to clients in a structured, professional, and consistent manner.

The role's scope focuses on the indirect spend of clients within the categories of IT outsourcing and offshoring (ITO), primarily covering application development, testing, and maintenance services, and business process outsourcing and offshoring (BPO). The Expert Sourcer must be a dynamic, client‑focused individual with a strong target orientation and proven experience, ideally across multiple categories, but at a minimum, with deep expertise in ITO and BPO. The individual will be part of a team of Strategic Sourcers in the UK and Switzerland, as well as providing global expertise for specific client accounts. They will undertake strategic sourcing initiatives that cover the end‑to‑end sourcing lifecycle, necessitating a global awareness of the various markets for service provision. Furthermore, the individual must have substantial experience working with key suppliers within the category. They should be confident in engaging with senior stakeholders and experienced in implementing change while fostering high‑performing teams.

Tasks and Responsibilities

As a Strategic Sourcer, your primary responsibility is to establish and maintain robust relationships with stakeholders. You will oversee the day‑to‑day management of client sourcing projects for multiple clients. Fostering a collaborative and high‑performance culture you will lead sourcing initiatives that range from smaller projects starting at $1 million to strategic purchases up to $300 million and occasionally > $1 Bn, all with minimal oversight. Ensuring negotiated commercial terms achieve the best outcomes, drafting contracts based on standard terms and conditions, and leading cross‑functional deal teams while coordinating with senior stakeholders are key aspects of your role. Additionally, you will build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and stay abreast of market trends for assigned categories, contributing valuable insights to sourcing plans and opportunity assessments for existing and prospective new clients. You are expected to adhere to Chain IQ's corporate standards, utilizing defined sourcing tools and processes to deliver sourcing initiatives effectively. Identifying and implementing opportunities to generate savings for clients through smarter and more efficient sourcing is crucial. Furthermore, you will mentor and coach experienced professionals within the team, providing support in more complex deals as needed.

Requirements

  • Educated to university standard or equivalent – MCIPS desirable but not essential.
  • Demonstrates proven market knowledge of ITO and BPO category, with skills to apply knowledge to drive maximum value for clients and able to advise highly skilled expert‑level team members.
  • Proven capability of running large multi‑million / complex global deals, including all aspects of the tender process.
  • Hands‑on approach for deal execution, manage deals end‑to‑end on their own with minimal oversight.
  • Highly organised and results driven, can lead a cross‑functional team.
  • The Expert Sourcer will play a key role in exceeding client expectations, driving savings, and delivering sourcing excellence across strategic initiatives.
  • Act as a senior point of contact for clients, ensuring proactive, structured, and value‑driven sourcing execution.
  • Client/stakeholder focus within the corporate environment with the gravitas to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Experienced negotiator and excellent communication skills.
  • German speaking and writing skills highly desirable.
  • Ability to structure complex deals and develop sourcing strategies.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, often to tight deadlines, and deliver results.
  • Experience in working with market‑leading sourcing tools and systems.
