Location: Sheffield (Hybrid - 2 days/week in office)

I'm recruiting on behalf of a leading national law firm for a Solicitor to join their specialist Medical Negligence team in Sheffield. This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex, high‑profile litigation within one of the UK's most respected claimant practices.

The role

You'll work within a dedicated Group Actions team handling a mix of individual medical negligence claims and large-scale group litigation. The work is varied, technically challenging and often high‑impact. You'll manage your own caseload while also supporting senior lawyers on major national cases.

Examples of recent work include:

  • Claims involving paediatric and spinal surgery
  • Group actions relating to defective medical devices
  • Contaminated blood and human growth hormone claims
  • Representing families in the Thirlwall Inquiry
  • Aviation disaster litigation involving international elements

Day‑to‑day responsibilities include:

  • Providing clear, empathetic advice to clients
  • Running your own caseload of medical negligence and group action matters
  • Assisting on high‑value, high‑profile litigation
  • Seeking interim payments to support client rehabilitation
  • Working closely with experts, counsel and stakeholders
  • Contributing to team development and knowledge sharing

About you

  • 3-5 years PQE in medical negligence
  • Experience with complex litigation
  • Group actions or product liability experience is helpful but not essential
  • Strong organisational skills and commercial awareness
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment
  • Able to commute to Sheffield 2 days per week
