A respected UK law firm is seeking a Chartered Legal Executive or Solicitor (1-3 years PQE) to join its specialist Military department in Cardiff. This is a fixed-term role covering maternity leave, offering the opportunity to manage a litigated caseload of multitrack personal injury claims and make a meaningful impact supporting military service personnel.
The Role
- Industrial disease, RTA, EL/PL, occupiers' liability, and product liability matters
- Running files from pre-action through to settlement or trial, ensuring CPR/Practice Direction compliance
- Drafting and settling core documents (letters of claim, claim forms, schedules of loss, witness statements, applications, instructions to experts/counsel)
- Instructing and managing experts and handling disclosure and trial bundles
- Preparing for and attending CMCs, CCMCs, PTRs, and interlocutory hearings, including routine advocacy
- Preparing costs budgets and monitoring WIP, disbursements, and proportionality
- Deploying ADR strategies, including Part 36 offers and settlement meetings
- Pursuing interim payments and implementing rehabilitation under the Rehabilitation Code
- Liaising with defendants, insurers, counsel, and experts
- Supervising trainees/paralegals and contributing to internal know-how
- Upholding regulatory duties and contributing to business development initiatives
Candidate Requirements
- 1-3 years PQE and exposure to claimant litigation
- Experience managing a caseload independently, including multitrack PI claims
- Strong drafting, organisation, and case management skills
- Accuracy, attention to detail, and excellent client care abilities
- Confidence in handling procedural and evidential risks
- Ability to work collaboratively and proactively with minimal supervision
