A nationally recognised Education team is seeking a Senior Associate to advise on major corporate, strategic and transformational projects across the education sector. This is an excellent opportunity to work with leading independent schools and educational organisations, delivering high quality advice on complex transactions while developing your profile within a Tier 1 ranked practice.

The role is ideally suited to an experienced corporate lawyer with strong M&A experience and a genuine interest in supporting purpose driven organisations through periods of change and growth. Hybrid working is available from the Bath office.

The Role

  • Leading complex projects, transactions and strategic initiatives
  • Delivering exceptional client service and commercially focused outcomes
  • Managing budgets, monitoring performance and driving profitability
  • Advising education sector clients on corporate transactions, mergers, acquisitions and strategic projects
  • Supporting a broad range of education and charity sector work
  • Supervising, mentoring and developing junior colleagues
  • Working collaboratively across teams to deliver integrated sector focused advice
  • Leading business development activities including networking, thought leadership, seminars, workshops, pitches and tenders
  • Identifying new markets, service lines and opportunities for growth
  • Communicating promptly and professionally with clients and colleagues
  • Maintaining high technical standards and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Staying abreast of legal, regulatory and market developments

Candidate Requirements

  • Relevant experience in corporate or education M&A transactions
  • Strong interest in education law and independent schools
  • Experience supervising and developing junior team members
  • Proven business development experience and ability to generate new revenue streams
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage projects independently
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence handling challenging conversations
  • Strong financial hygiene (accurate time recording, billing discipline, cost awareness)
