A Top 100 UK law firm is seeking an Employment Solicitor / Associate (NQ-5 PQE) to join its highly regarded Employment & Immigration team in Swindon. This is an excellent opportunity to join a nationally recognised practice known for combining high quality, technically strong work with a genuinely supportive and collaborative culture.

The team advises a broad mix of clients, from local SMEs through to national and international businesses and senior executives, across the full spectrum of employment matters including contentious tribunal work, strategic advisory projects and day to day HR issues. The role can be tailored to offer pure employment work or a blend of employment and immigration.

The Team

You will join a well structured and growing regional team comprising partners, senior associates, associates, solicitors, legal assistants, a consultant, a paralegal and a PSL. The wider national employment group includes approximately 40 specialists across multiple offices, offering strong support, supervision and cross office collaboration.

The Role

You will manage your own caseload and work closely with partners and senior lawyers across a broad range of employment matters. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing a varied caseload with appropriate supervision
  • Taking client instructions and ensuring full understanding of expectations
  • Developing client relationship skills and building relationships with smaller clients
  • Drafting policies, handbooks, contracts and employment documentation
  • Advising on disciplinary, grievance, TUPE and discrimination matters
  • Preparing and progressing advocacy matters and negotiating appropriate solutions
  • Assisting with settlement agreements and termination negotiations
  • Ensuring compliance with SRA principles, risk management and file review processes
  • Responding appropriately to client concerns or complaints
  • Supporting marketing initiatives, drafting articles and attending networking events
  • Spotting cross selling opportunities and building an internal referral network
  • Contributing to BD projects and raising personal profile
  • Supporting junior fee earners and delegating tasks where appropriate
  • Working flexibly and collaboratively across the wider team
  • Managing time recording, WIP and billing effectively
  • Aligning personal objectives with departmental strategy
  • Contributing ideas for business improvements and innovation

Candidate Requirements

This role is suited to a Solicitor with:

  • NQ-5 years' PQE (must have completed at least one seat in Employment)
  • Ability to manage own files with minimal supervision
  • Strong client management skills and excellent service delivery
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise effectively
  • Commercial awareness and a proactive approach
  • Interest in developing expertise in employment and/or immigration
