Risk and Compliance Lawyer - Devon / Somerset

As Risk & Compliance Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the firm's regulatory, governance, and risk management activities. Working closely with partners and senior stakeholders, you will help ensure the firm continues to meet its professional obligations, maintain high standards of client service, and effectively manage risk across the business. The role also includes oversight of the firm's complaints process, ensuring matters are handled appropriately, lessons are identified where necessary, and regulatory requirements are met.
The Role
- Maintaining and enhancing the firm's risk and compliance framework.
- Providing advice and guidance on regulatory, ethical, and professional obligations.
- Overseeing the firm's complaints process, ensuring complaints are managed professionally, fairly, and in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Supporting the investigation and resolution of client complaints and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Monitoring changes in legislation and regulation and implementing necessary updates.
- Supporting compliance with anti-money laundering (AML), financial crime, sanctions, and anti-bribery requirements.
- Conducting compliance monitoring, audits, and internal reviews.
- Investigating risk incidents, compliance breaches, and regulatory concerns where required.
- Preparing reports and management information for senior leadership.
- Developing and delivering risk and compliance training across the firm.
About You
You will have experience in a risk and compliance and be confident dealing with a broad range of matters. You will be an effective communicator with strong analytical skills and the ability to build positive working relationships across the firm.
Experience of managing complaints within a regulated environment would be advantageous, alongside a good understanding of risk management principles and regulatory compliance.
