Chadwick Nott are pleased to be working with a respected regional law firm, currently seeking a Solicitor to join their Litigation - Defendant Personal Injury team based in Cardiff. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a varied and high-quality caseload for a diverse client base, within a supportive and award-winning team.
The Role
- Assist partners and senior fee earners in delivering legal advice and representation across a broad range of defendant personal injury matters, including:
- Defending public liability claims
- Defending personal injury claims
- Defending employer liability claims
- Conducting litigation in the County Court and High Court
- Investigating claims and attending site visits
- Advising on liability, quantum and evidence
- Drafting statements of case, disclosure lists, witness statements, and instructions to counsel and experts
- Undertaking quantum assessments and drafting counter schedules of loss
- Engaging in settlement negotiations and attending hearings
- Liaising with clients, counsel, experts and other stakeholders
- Advising on fixed recoverable costs and assessed costs
- Supporting senior fee earners on high-value, multi-track and complex litigation
- Ensuring compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements
- Participating in business development activities
Candidate Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor or FCILEX with 2-5 years PQE in defendant personal injury litigation.
- Solid understanding of Pre-Action Protocols, Civil Procedure Rules and litigation processes.
- Experience managing complex caseloads and working under pressure.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical and case management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Commercial awareness and a client-focused approach.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Professional presentation and IT proficiency.
