Are you a Private Client Solicitor with a passion for contentious probate and a desire to work on complex, sensitive matters? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established and forward-thinking legal team, supporting a diverse client base across Gloucestershire and beyond.
The Role
- You'll play a key role in the Private Client team, handling a varied caseload with a particular focus on contentious probate. Your work will include:
- Advising on and progressing claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975
- Handling disputes over Wills, testamentary capacity, estate administration, and executor conduct
- Preparing responses to Larke v Nugus requests
- Drafting Wills and advising on tax-efficient estate planning
- Administering estates for both private and business clients
- Advising on and preparing Lasting Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection applications
- Trust formation, administration, and tax planning
- Supporting elderly clients with residential and nursing care planning
You'll also contribute to the firm's growth through marketing, networking, and business development initiatives.
What We're Looking For:
- Around 3 years' PQE in private client law, with a focus on contentious probate
- Strong knowledge of contested Wills, IPFDA claims, and estate disputes
- Experience advising on inheritance tax, CGT, and income tax in estate planning
- Familiarity with trust law, deeds of variation, and LPA preparation
- STEP or SFE qualification is desirable but not essential
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A proactive, organised approach with strong attention to detail
- A team player with commercial awareness and a client-first mindset
- Confident using legal tech and case management systems
