An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Medical Negligence Solicitor or Legal Executive to join a specialist Clinical Negligence team on a part-time maternity cover contract. This role is ideal for a lawyer with proven claimant medical negligence experience who is looking for a flexible position within a supportive and well-established team. The successful candidate will join the team ahead of the maternity leave period to allow for a thorough handover.
You will manage a caseload of around 30 claimant clinical negligence matters at various stages of progression, including complex cases involving misdiagnosis, psychiatric injury and fatal claims. Working with support from senior colleagues, you will be responsible for progressing matters independently while maintaining the highest standards of client care.
The role will involve:
- Managing a varied caseload of claimant medical negligence matters
- Reviewing and analysing medical evidence
- Identifying legal and evidential issues
- Drafting witness statements, schedules of loss and pleadings
- Instructing counsel and medical experts
- Liaising with defendants, clients and third parties
- Progressing matters through litigation where appropriate
- Maintaining accurate file management and case progression
The successful candidate will be a Solicitor or Legal Executive with a minimum of 3 years' experience handling claimant clinical negligence claims. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage a caseload with minimal supervision are essential. Candidates should also possess excellent communication skills and demonstrate a compassionate and empathetic approach when working with clients, recognising the significant impact that medical negligence claims can have on individuals and their families.
This is a part-time position, working 3 to 4 days per week, based from the Hertford office. Hybrid and flexible working arrangements are available.
