A growing organisation within the utilities sector is looking to appoint a Commercial Contracts Solicitor or experienced Contract Specialist to join its in‑house legal function. This is a hands‑on role supporting the business on a wide range of commercial contracts.

The work will focus on drafting, reviewing and negotiating supply agreements, framework agreements and terms and conditions, often linked to projects involving the hire of specialist equipment and infrastructure support for construction and demolition works. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the sales team, so strong commercial awareness and the ability to work closely with non‑legal stakeholders is essential.

You will need strong experience advising on and negotiating framework agreements and be comfortable discussing these in detail at interview. Experience within the utilities sector is desirable, and familiarity with NEC contracts would be advantageous.

This role will involve a mix of public sector and private tenders, including contracts with Tier 1 contractors, and will require confidence in reviewing and negotiating a variety of agreements of differing complexity. Candidates should have between 2-8 years' PQE (or equivalent experience) and a solid background in commercial contracts. Those with some in‑house experience are particularly encouraged to apply. Non‑qualified contract specialists will also be considered where experience is relevant.

This is not a procurement‑focused role, and candidates with predominantly procurement backgrounds will not be suitable. Strong UK‑based commercial legal experience is essential. The role is office‑based three days per week in Chandlers Ford, with flexibility around working hours.
