A specialist, award-winning law firm with a strong reputation in the later life lending sector is seeking an experienced Residential Conveyancing Solicitor to join as Legal Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading the technical direction of the residential conveyancing practice
  • Ensuring all legal work is accurate, compliant, and commercially sound
  • Designing and delivering a technical development pathway for lawyers and trainees
  • Raising capability across the business through coaching, mentoring, and structured knowledge sharing
  • Overseeing and transforming quality assurance systems, embedding a culture of continuous improvement
  • Providing strategic oversight, performance development, and career support to a team of qualified and qualifying lawyers
  • Representing the firm at key industry events and participating in trade body working groups
  • Partnering with Business Development to expand sale and purchase work
  • Collaborating with the IT team to enhance the firm's case management system to support operational delivery and client experience

Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum 6 years' experience running a complex residential conveyancing caseload
  • Strong technical expertise across: Sales, purchases, and remortgages; Leasehold and lease extensions; Unregistered properties; SDLT requirements, including reliefs and exemptions
  • Proven ability to develop, coach, and mentor team members
  • Experience contributing to senior management or strategic decision making (advantageous)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to inspire others
