Are you an experienced planning solicitor with 4+ years' PQE looking for your next step? A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Planning Associate or Senior Associate to join a nationally recognised Planning & Infrastructure Consenting team in Exeter. This is a highly respected national firm with a strong regional presence, top tier rankings in Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners, and a reputation for advising on some of the most significant developments in the region. With a growing pipeline of major projects and a thriving client base, the team is now looking to expand.
The Role
You’ll work on complex, high impact planning matters across a wide range of sectors. Expect exposure to major regional and national projects from day one, including:
- Large scale strategic development
- Nationally significant energy and infrastructure schemes
- Planning obligations and CIL
- Lawful development certificates and highways matters
- Enforcement, compulsory purchase, judicial reviews, statutory challenges and appeals
- Supporting wider teams on property acquisitions, disposals and contentious planning issues
You’ll run your own caseload while working closely with Partners and colleagues across the firm's offices. This is a role offering high levels of responsibility, client contact and the chance to develop a sector specialism over time.
Candidate Requirements
- 4+ years' PQE with a strong grounding in planning law
- Experience in residential development and/or energy related matters (ideal but not essential)
- Excellent communication skills and confidence handling complex issues
- Strong technical ability, meticulous attention to detail and sound judgement
- The ability to build trusted, long lasting client relationships
- A passion for energy, infrastructure and the future of sustainable development would be a real advantage, given the team's significant work in this space.
