An exciting opportunity has arisen for a driven and ambitious Employment Associate (3+ PQE) to join a nationally recognised, award winning Employment team in their modern Exeter offices. This team has all the accolades you would expect and is consistently ranked in Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners and previously named Employment Team of the Year at The Lawyer Awards. With continued growth and increasing demand across both public and private sectors, they are now looking to welcome a talented Associate ready to take on a broad mix of high quality employment work.

The Role

  • You’ll join a high performing team advising employers and senior executives locally, nationally and internationally.
  • Expect a varied and stimulating caseload, including:
    • Advising on complex employment issues and disputes
    • Day to day HR and employee relations advice across multiple sectors
    • Employment support on corporate transactions
    • Acting for both employers and senior employees/executives
    • Handling both contentious and non contentious matters with early ownership

You’ll work directly with Partners and senior lawyers on high value matters, with the autonomy to manage your own caseload from the outset.

Candidate Requirements

  • 3+ years' PQE with solid experience advising on employment law matters
  • Ideally an employer focused background, though not essential
  • Strong HR advisory and corporate support experience
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusted client relationships
  • Empathy, good judgement and professionalism when handling sensitive matters
  • Strong organisational skills, resilience under pressure and a meticulous approach
  • A genuine commitment to delivering commercially focused, pragmatic advice

You’ll be encouraged to take on responsibility early, with ongoing support and exposure to a diverse range of work across the team.
