A leading national law firm is seeking a skilled and experienced Conflicts Advisor to join its Risk & Compliance function. This is an exciting opportunity to support the firm’s client and matter onboarding processes, lateral hire screening, and conflict of interest management. The role sits within the Can I Act (CIA) team, a specialist group focused on business protection and regulatory compliance.

The Role

  • Assessing new mandates and advising on conflicts and compliance issues.
  • Reviewing conflict reports and identifying legal, commercial, or reputational risks.
  • Advising legal teams on conflict search results and clearance procedures.
  • Investigating new and amended instructions for potential conflicts.
  • Liaising with partners and fee earners to resolve conflicts of interest.
  • Establishing information barriers and managing insider lists.
  • Supporting informed consent processes and documenting conditions for mandate acceptance.
  • Maintaining conflict records and systems (including Intapp and blackbook).
  • Assisting with training, policy updates, and internal communications.
  • Escalating complex queries to senior risk team members.
  • Contributing to strategic improvements and development of CIA processes.

Candidate Requirements

  • A graduate‑level education and 3+ years’ experience in risk and compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of professional conflict rules in England & Wales (Scotland and NI preferred).
  • Experience using Intapp or similar onboarding tools.
  • Practical understanding of conflict identification and management.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage workload and stakeholder expectations.
  • A collaborative mindset and commercial awareness.
