A leading national law firm is seeking a skilled and experienced Conflicts Advisor to join its Risk & Compliance function. This is an exciting opportunity to support the firm’s client and matter onboarding processes, lateral hire screening, and conflict of interest management. The role sits within the Can I Act (CIA) team, a specialist group focused on business protection and regulatory compliance.
The Role
- Assessing new mandates and advising on conflicts and compliance issues.
- Reviewing conflict reports and identifying legal, commercial, or reputational risks.
- Advising legal teams on conflict search results and clearance procedures.
- Investigating new and amended instructions for potential conflicts.
- Liaising with partners and fee earners to resolve conflicts of interest.
- Establishing information barriers and managing insider lists.
- Supporting informed consent processes and documenting conditions for mandate acceptance.
- Maintaining conflict records and systems (including Intapp and blackbook).
- Assisting with training, policy updates, and internal communications.
- Escalating complex queries to senior risk team members.
- Contributing to strategic improvements and development of CIA processes.
Candidate Requirements
- A graduate‑level education and 3+ years’ experience in risk and compliance.
- Strong knowledge of professional conflict rules in England & Wales (Scotland and NI preferred).
- Experience using Intapp or similar onboarding tools.
- Practical understanding of conflict identification and management.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to manage workload and stakeholder expectations.
- A collaborative mindset and commercial awareness.
