Chadwick Nott are pleased to be assisting a respected regional law firm in their search for a Clinical Negligence Solicitor to join their Bristol office. This is an excellent opportunity to join a nationally recognised team known for its compassionate approach and technical excellence in supporting clients who have suffered serious injury due to medical negligence.
Responsibilities
Job Purpose
You will act as a fee earner within the Clinical Negligence team, managing your own caseload with appropriate supervision, while assisting senior lawyers on complex and high-value matters. The role involves delivering outstanding client care, progressing claims efficiently, and contributing to the continued success of the department.
Legal and Case Management
- Manage a caseload of clinical negligence claims from instruction to resolution
- Assist senior fee earners on substantial and complex matters
- Review medical records, instruct experts, and prepare chronologies
- Draft pleadings, witness statements, instructions to Counsel, and settlement documents
- Attend conferences, mediations, and hearings as required
- Liaise with clients, experts, Counsel, opponents, and the Court professionally and promptly
- Maintain accurate digital case records using the firm\’s case management system
- Monitor limitation periods and procedural deadlines
- Undertake legal research to support case strategy
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and firm standards
Departmental Duties
- Achieve billing, utilisation, and performance targets
- Support business development and build relationships with referrers
- Mentor junior colleagues and share knowledge
- Contribute to the department\’s online presence and professional networking
- Provide team support during periods of absence or high demand

- Maintain professional standards in line with the SRA Code of Conduct
- Deliver empathetic and responsive client service
- Stay up to date with clinical negligence law and procedure
- Record CPD in line with SRA requirements

Qualifications
Person Specification
Legal Status
- Right to live and work in the UK
- DBS disclosure required prior to appointment
Education/Qualifications
- Solicitor or Legal Executive with practice rights, qualified in England and Wales
- 1-3 years\’ PQE in clinical negligence
Skills/Knowledge
- Experience handling a clinical negligence caseload
- Strong understanding of litigation and CPR requirements
- Skilled in analysing medical records and instructing experts
- Excellent drafting, advocacy, and negotiation skills
- Strong client care and communication abilities
- Proficient in case management systems and Microsoft Office
- Highly organised and deadline-driven
- Flexible and collaborative team player
