A highly regarded Banking & Finance team is seeking a Solicitor (NQ-2 years PQE) to join its growing practice in Cardiff. The team advises a wide range of regional and national clients, including banks, financial institutions, corporate borrowers, public sector bodies, and organisations across sectors such as sport, hospitality, renewables, healthcare, real estate, and the public sector. This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected team with strong cross departmental links and significant business development exposure.

The Role

You will work closely with colleagues across banking, corporate, commercial, real estate, and construction teams, supporting a broad range of transactional matters. Responsibilities include:

  • Acting for clearing banks, institutional lenders, challenger banks, alternative financiers, high profile corporate borrowers, and public sector clients
  • Advising on leveraged finance, acquisition finance, real estate finance, and other banking and finance matters
  • Drafting simple loan agreements and standard form security documents
  • Managing conditions precedent to drawdown and reviewing/approving CP documentation
  • Liaising directly with clients to manage transactions from credit sanction to drawdown
  • Assisting with post completion requirements
  • Supporting business development initiatives, events, and wider firm activities
  • Developing strong client relationships and contributing to the team's continued growth

You will receive ongoing support and training, with clear opportunities to develop your technical skills and client exposure.

Candidate Requirements

This role is suited to a motivated and commercially aware lawyer with:

  • England & Wales qualification, NQ-2 years PQE (experience from a leading regional or national firm preferred)
  • Experience in banking and finance (or other transactional areas with a willingness to specialise)
  • Strong sector knowledge and commercial awareness
  • Excellent drafting, communication, and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage workload efficiently and work collaboratively across teams
  • A proactive approach to client service and business development
