A highly regarded national law firm is seeking an experienced Employment Associate or Senior Associate (6+ PQE) to join its thriving Cardiff office. This is an exceptional opportunity to work within a dynamic, nationally recognised Employment & HR team, handling high quality, complex matters for a diverse corporate client base while playing a visible role in the growth of the practice.
The Role
- You will work across a broad mix of contentious and non-contentious employment matters, including:
- Contentious Work
- Managing Employment Tribunal litigation from inception to final hearing
- Handling complex, high value claims including discrimination, whistleblowing, unfair dismissal and breach of contract
- Preparing pleadings, managing disclosure, drafting witness statements and complying with directions
- Supporting or conducting advocacy at preliminary hearings and settlement discussions
- Advisory & Non Contentious Work
- Advising employer clients on day to day HR issues including disciplinary, grievance, redundancy and discrimination matters
- Drafting contracts of employment, policies, handbooks and settlement agreements
- Supporting corporate transactions with employment due diligence and TUPE advice
- Advising senior executives and claimants where appropriate
- Assisting with employment related data protection matters
- Business Development & Team Contribution
- Taking an active role in seminars, networking events and client training
- Drafting articles, guidance notes and thought leadership pieces
- Supporting partners with the development and growth of the Cardiff practice
- Collaborating with colleagues across the national Employment & HR team
Candidate Requirements
- Has 6+ years' PQE in employment law
- Has strong experience advising employer clients across a wide range of HR and employment matters
- Has managed Tribunal cases from start to finish, including complex and high value claims
- Demonstrates excellent drafting, research and advisory skills
- Provides practical, commercially minded advice with strong client care skills
- Is an excellent team player with a collaborative approach
- Has an interest in business development and growing client relationships
- Brings strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines
- Has experience in non contentious/corporate support work (desirable but not essential)
