An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Associate Solicitor to join a high performing Public Law team specialising in environmental and administrative law. Based in Cardiff, you will work on nationally significant matters for public sector bodies, regulators and private sector clients, advising across the full spectrum of environmental law. This role offers exposure to complex, high profile work involving nature conservation, biodiversity net gain, pollution, waste, contaminated land, water regulation, energy and wider environmental regulatory issues.
The Role
- Advising on nature conservation, biodiversity net gain and environmental permitting
- Handling matters involving waste, pollution, contaminated land and remediation
- Advising on water regulation, energy and infrastructure related environmental issues
- Supporting public sector clients and regulators on environmental duties and compliance
- Conducting statutory interpretation and advising on public law risk
- Undertaking environmental due diligence for corporate and real estate transactions
- Working on high profile, nationally significant environmental and regulatory matters
- Providing clear, commercially focused advice to clients at all levels
Candidate Requirements
- Experience in environmental law (public or private sector)
- Knowledge of areas such as nature conservation, permitting, waste, pollution, contaminated land, water regulation or energy/infrastructure
- Experience in statutory interpretation and regulatory compliance
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with senior stakeholders
- Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines
- High attention to detail and a commercial mindset
- A flexible, ambitious and results driven approach
