A busy and supportive Family department is seeking a Solicitor or FCILEX with practising rights to manage a caseload of private law children and domestic abuse matters. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well established team handling both privately funded and publicly funded work, with regular court advocacy and strong opportunities for professional development.

The Role

  • You will be responsible for managing a varied caseload, including:
    • Private law children matters
    • Domestic abuse cases
    • Legal aid and privately funded work
    • Attending court (with and without counsel) and conducting your own advocacy
    • Drafting statements, briefs to counsel and other legal documents
    • Managing files to Legal Aid audit standards
    • Liaising with clients, experts and other solicitors
    • Using the internal case management system effectively
    • Supporting business development and contributing to departmental financial targets

Candidate Requirements

  • Essential
    • Experience in family legal aid and CCMS
    • Experience in private law children and domestic abuse matters
    • Previous experience within a family law department
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Excellent organisation and attention to detail
    • Ability to prioritise and work to strict deadlines
    • Strong IT skills
    • Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team
  • Desirable
    • Resolution Accredited Specialist

Education

  • Solicitor or FCILEX with practising rights
