The Role
An opening has arisen for a Solicitor or FCILEX (with practising rights) to join a busy and respected Family Law team. You'll manage a varied caseload of private law children matters and domestic abuse cases, spanning both legal aid and privately funded work. This is a hands on role where you'll take ownership of your files, attend hearings locally and further afield, and conduct your own advocacy.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a caseload of private law children and domestic abuse matters
- Attending court with and without counsel; undertaking your own advocacy
- Meeting clients and providing clear, empathetic advice
- Handling both legal aid and privately funded cases
- Drafting statements, applications, briefs to counsel and other legal documents
- Liaising with clients, experts, counsel and other solicitors
- Supporting business development and contributing to departmental targets
Essential Requirements
- Experience in family legal aid work and CCMS
- Strong background in private law children and domestic abuse cases
- Previous experience within a family law department
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Ability to prioritise, work independently and meet deadlines
- Confident using case management systems and IT tools
- Calm under pressure and a strong team player
