A highly regarded Construction team is seeking an experienced Associate (3+ PQE) to join its busy and expanding practice in either Bristol or Exeter. This is an excellent opportunity to work on high quality contentious construction matters across a broad range of sectors, acting for major national and international clients.

You will handle a varied and complex caseload of contentious construction and energy related disputes, including:

  • Court litigation, adjudication, arbitration, mediation, and other forms of ADR
  • Disputes involving payment issues, delays, defects, and professional negligence
  • Advising on contract management and dispute avoidance strategies
  • Working across a wide range of construction projects, including:
  • Commercial development
  • Utilities and renewable energy
  • Residential schemes
  • Operation, maintenance, and service contracts
  • Facilities management
  • Collaborating with colleagues across Construction, Real Estate, Corporate, Commercial, and Planning teams
  • Working directly with clients from the outset and managing day to day conduct of disputes
  • Receiving ongoing training and support from a specialist Senior Knowledge Lawyer
  • Taking responsibility for high value, high quality work with significant client impact
  • This role is suited to a construction disputes specialist with:

    • 3+ years' PQE in contentious construction
    • Strong experience in adjudication and court litigation processes
    • Excellent communication, technical, and organisational skills
    • Ability to provide clear, commercial, and pragmatic advice under pressure
    • Experience with JCT and NEC contracts (ideal)
    • Exposure to a range of construction disputes, including adjudications, arbitrations, and expert determinations
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle complex matters
    • Proven ability to build strong client relationships
    • Genuine interest in the construction and infrastructure sector
    • Ambition, self motivation, and enthusiasm for professional development
