A well established, trusted and forward thinking local law practice is seeking an experienced Residential Property Solicitor to join its busy Residential Property team. Recognised for delivering high quality legal services across a broad range of practice areas, the firm offers a strong platform for complex work, client care and professional development.
The Role
You will provide high quality legal advice to an existing client base while actively contributing to business development and the continued growth of the department. This is a fee earning role managing residential property transactions from initial instruction through to post completion, including complex and high value matters. You will also provide leadership, supervision and technical support to junior team members where appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Managing a full and varied caseload of residential property matters, including freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, remortgages, transfers of equity, new build and shared ownership
- Handling high value and complex transactions with minimal supervision
- Achieving agreed billing and performance targets
- Drafting and negotiating legal documentation for residential property transactions
- Undertaking land registration and post completion formalities
- Providing technical guidance, mentoring and supervision to junior fee earners and support staff
- Conducting legal research using internal and external sources
- Ensuring files comply with SRA, Law Society Conveyancing Protocol, CQS, LEXCEL and internal procedures
- Maintaining clear, proactive communication with clients, estate agents, lenders and third parties
- Assisting with billing and financial administration
- Contributing to marketing, networking and business development initiatives
- Producing articles or content for internal and external publication
- Keeping up to date with legal, regulatory and best practice developments
- Opening, closing and archiving files in accordance with firm procedures
Candidate Requirements
Qualifications:
- Qualified Solicitor
- 10+ years' PQE in residential property law (preferred)
Knowledge:
- Extensive knowledge of residential conveyancing processes and property law
- Strong understanding of the local residential property market
- Comprehensive understanding of risk management, compliance and regulatory requirements
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
Skills:
- Excellent organisational and caseload management skills
- Strong leadership and mentoring abilities
- Exceptional client care and communication skills
- Strong drafting, negotiation and technical legal skills
- Commercial awareness and ability to support business development
- Highly motivated, resilient and able to work independently
- Strong IT skills, including experience with case management systems
Experience:
- Proven track record of independently managing a full residential conveyancing caseload
- Experience handling complex and high value transactions
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff (desirable)
- Demonstrated experience in client relationship management and business development
