A well established and expanding employment team is seeking an experienced Employment Law Solicitor (5-8 years PQE) to join its Bangor office. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong and commercially minded lawyer to take on a high quality caseload across both contentious and non‑contentious employment matters, supporting a diverse client base and contributing to the continued growth of the team.
The Role
You will manage a varied and complex caseload, including:
- Contentious Employment Matters
- Managing Employment Tribunal litigation from instruction to conclusion
- Drafting pleadings, managing disclosure and preparing witness statements
- Advising on complex claims including discrimination, whistleblowing, unfair/constructive dismissal, equal pay, breach of contract and redundancy disputes
- Conducting or supporting advocacy at preliminary hearings and settlement discussions
- Providing strategic guidance on disputes, risk management and settlement strategy
- Non Contentious Employment Work
- Drafting, negotiating and advising on employment contracts, service agreements, policies and handbooks
- Advising on internal HR processes (disciplinary, grievance, performance and capability)
- Delivering advice and documentation for restructuring and redundancy exercises
- Supporting corporate transactions with due diligence, warranties, indemnities and TUPE advice
- Providing commercial, timely advice to business owners, HR professionals and senior management
- Conducting or assisting with complex disciplinary, grievance or whistleblowing investigations
Candidate Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with 5-8 years' PQE
- Demonstrable experience across both contentious and non‑contentious employment law
- Proven ability to manage a varied caseload autonomously
- Strong drafting experience (contracts, policies, settlement agreements)
- Experience managing Employment Tribunal cases from start to finish
Knowledge & Technical Skills
- Excellent knowledge of UK employment legislation and case law
- Ability to deliver clear, concise and commercially focused advice
- Strong analytical, drafting and problem solving skills
- Confidence handling complex or sensitive matters
Communication & Interpersonal Skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to build rapport and deliver high quality client service
- Skilled at presenting technical legal points in a practical, business friendly way
Personal Qualities
- Commercially minded with a pragmatic, solutions focused approach
- Organised, efficient and able to manage competing deadlines
- Proactive, collaborative and committed to delivering consistently high quality work
- Calm under pressure with strong judgement and discretion

- Welsh language skills
- Experience supervising junior fee earners
