A highly regarded multi-office law firm with an excellent reputation across Somerset and Wiltshire is looking for an experienced Risk & Compliance Manager to join their team. This is a great opportunity to take ownership of the firm's compliance framework and work closely with senior leadership in a varied, influential role. The role can be based at any of the firm's offices within the wider Wiltshire / North Somerset area.
The Role
Reporting to the COLP, you'll oversee the firm's risk and compliance function, ensuring regulatory obligations are met and internal processes remain robust, up to date and fit for purpose. You'll supervise a Risk & Compliance Assistant and act as a key point of contact for partners and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Support COLP, COFA and MLRO with day to day compliance queries.
- Maintain and update firm wide policies, procedures and the Office Procedures Manual.
- Coordinate Lexcel, CQS and other accreditation processes.
- Oversee internal file reviews and prepare compliance reports.
- Manage compliance registers (complaints, high risk matters, notifications, breaches).
- Handle GDPR related matters including SARs and data protection requirements.
- Deliver or coordinate compliance training across the firm.
- Maintain Terms of Business and ensure updates are communicated and implemented.
- Support practising certificate renewals and regulatory submissions.
- Assist with business continuity planning, cyber compliance and IT related regulatory processes.
- Contribute to insurance renewals and management of key subscriptions.
- Provide partnership support including meeting attendance, minutes and confidential documentation.
About You
- Strong legal compliance experience within a law firm.
- Solid understanding of SRA Rules, LSAG (AML), Lexcel and CQS.
- Confident communicator.
- Strong organisational skills and meticulous record keeping.
- Comfortable delivering training and managing firm wide processes.
- Good IT skills and a proactive, solutions focused approach.
