A leading national law firm is seeking an Associate to join its expanding Agriculture, Rural & Estates team in Exeter. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a highly respected group of rural property specialists, advising landowners, estates, farmers, and agricultural businesses on a wide range of high quality matters. You'll work alongside Legal 500 and Chambers recognised lawyers and develop your expertise across the full spectrum of rural and estates work.

The Role

  • Advising clients on a broad range of rural and agricultural matters, including:
    • Agricultural tenancies (AHA and FBT)
    • Rural land sales and acquisitions
    • Estate management and diversification projects
    • Renewable energy schemes and environmental stewardship
    • Disposals of rural land for development
    • Supporting senior lawyers on complex transactions and research tasks
    • Delivering clear, concise and commercially focused advice
    • Building strong client relationships and providing exceptional service

You will also contribute to the team’s growth by:

  • Attending agricultural shows, networking events and sector forums
  • Supporting business development initiatives within the rural sector
  • Helping to raise the profile of the team and firm

Candidate Requirements

  • Strong experience or a genuine interest in rural property, agriculture, and estates work
  • Excellent drafting skills and the ability to deliver clear, commercial advice
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • A proactive approach to business development and relationship building
  • High levels of initiative, organisation and attention to detail
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to achieving team targets
