A highly successful national law firm is seeking a Corporate Managing Associate to join its expanding Bristol office. The firm has welcomed 191 new colleagues in the past year and continues to experience double digit growth, reflecting its strong market position and ambitious trajectory. The corporate team remains exceptionally busy, with a strong pipeline of national and international work for well known brands, owner managed businesses, and private equity backed companies.
The wider corporate group comprises over 70 lawyers across 10+ UK offices, advising entrepreneurs, SMEs, financial institutions, and FTSE 100 companies. The team handles:
- Mergers and acquisitions
- Disposals and reorganisations
- Fundraising and private equity
- Equity capital markets
- Due diligence
- Joint ventures and shareholder arrangements
- Corporate governance and structuring
The Bristol corporate team is in a period of exciting growth and is led by a highly regarded Partner recognised in both Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500. The southern corporate team is also headed by a market leading lawyer ranked as a Leading Individual and Next Generation Partner.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious corporate lawyer to step into a senior role within a thriving and well resourced team. Candidates with 6+ PQE are encouraged to apply, although those slightly more junior with strong experience and the ability to manage their own caseload will also be considered.
You will work across the full spectrum of corporate matters, including:
- Mergers and acquisitions
- Shareholder agreements
- Corporate restructurings
- Joint ventures
- Private equity transactions
The team works seamlessly across offices, offering exposure to high quality national work and some international matters. You will be encouraged and supported to develop your own client relationships and progress your career within a collaborative and forward thinking environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high quality legal advice and exceptional client service
- Manage your own caseload with minimal supervision
- Maintain strong financial management, including accurate time recording and WIP management
- Contribute to business development and client retention initiatives
- Keep technical knowledge up to date and maintain SRA competence standards
- Take ownership of your professional development and soft skills growth
- Support the wider team and collaborate across offices
- Undertake additional reasonable tasks as required
Candidate Requirements
- 6+ years PQE in corporate law (flexible for strong candidates slightly below this level)
- Extensive experience across core corporate transactional work
- Strong commercial acumen and understanding of client business needs
- Proven ability to manage transactions independently
- Excellent financial management and case management skills
- Confident with IT systems, case management tools, and electronic time recording
- A proactive, self starting approach with excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to embody and promote the firm's values
