A leading regional firm is seeking an experienced lawyer to join its highly regarded Private Property & Agricultural team. Working across the Bristol offices, you will be part of a growing group of nine lawyers handling a broad mix of agricultural, rural land and commercial property transactions. The team is one of the largest agricultural practices in the UK, ranked in Chambers and The Legal 500, and acts for a wide range of clients including landed estates, farming families, investors, banks and private individuals. The practice also works closely with a national Commercial Property team of nearly 100 fee earners.

The Role

  • Manage a varied and high quality caseload, with responsibilities including:
  • Handling a broad range of rural and agricultural property matters, including high value rural residential properties, listed buildings and unregistered land
  • Advising on complex farm and agricultural transactions involving bare land, working farms, large estates, diversification projects, renewable energy and nutrient neutrality issues
  • Managing the full lifecycle of rural property matters, including support payments, tenancies, rights of way, environmental issues and secured lending
  • Undertaking landlord and tenant work under the Agricultural Holdings Act 1986, Agricultural Tenancies Act 1995 and Landlord and Tenant Act 1954
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues in planning, estate planning and litigation as part of a sector focused approach
  • Building strong relationships with long standing clients including estates, farming families, investors and lenders

You will have significant client contact and the opportunity to develop strong client management skills while working on complex, interesting and often high value matters.

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with 4+ years' PQE
  • Strong academics and a high level of intellectual curiosity
  • Enjoys managing their own caseload with initiative, drive and excellent organisational skills
  • Genuine team player with strong communication skills
  • Real interest in agriculture and the issues facing farming businesses
  • Well developed client management skills and an interest in business development
  • Eager to continue developing technical expertise and client facing skills within a growing and ambitious team
