A leading UK insurance group is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join its high-performing legal team. This is a pivotal role for an experienced legal professional with deep expertise in insurance law and regulatory compliance.
You’ll be advising across the business on complex legal matters, shaping strategy, managing risk, and ensuring regulatory alignment. The role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with senior leadership and contribute to the company’s continued growth and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic legal advice across insurance, regulatory, and commercial matters
- Lead negotiations and draft agreements across distribution, underwriting, claims, and financial services
- Manage regulatory interactions (FCA, HMRC, GFSC, etc.)
- Support broker and consumer lending activities
- Advise on corporate governance and company law
- Mentor junior legal professionals and deputise for the Group General Counsel
What We’re Looking For:
- Qualified Solicitor/Barrister with 5+ years PQE
- Strong background in insurance law (in-house or private practice)
- Depth and breadth of expertise in commercial contract, including SAAS, IT, Licensing, data processing, IP, material outsourcing and loan agreements.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Collaborative, proactive, and detail-oriented mindset
