A well-established national law firm is seeking a Solicitor or FCILEx lawyer with a strong interest in Employment Law to join its busy and supportive Employment team in Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity to manage a varied caseload, contribute to both contentious and non-contentious work, and develop your career within a collaborative environment that places a high value on flexibility and work-life balance.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for managing a caseload of employment matters, primarily for legal expense insurer clients, including:
- Advising on potential Employment Tribunal claims
- Running Tribunal cases, including drafting pleadings and witness statements
- Negotiating settlements and advising on settlement agreements
- Instructing counsel or advocates where required
- Working in line with insurer service level agreements
- Supporting non-contentious work such as drafting contracts, handbooks and employment documentation
- Providing reactive and proactive advice to commercial clients, including telephone advice
- Contributing to marketing initiatives, including legal updates and client training
- Progressing files using the firm’s case management system
- Managing billing and invoicing
There may also be opportunities to supervise junior case handlers.
Candidate Requirements
This role is suited to a qualified lawyer with:
- Qualification as a Solicitor or FCILEx, or equivalent experience with a desire to qualify
- A genuine passion for employment law
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and time-management skills
- Confidence in taking responsibility for cases and strategy (with supervisory support)
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively
- A positive, proactive approach
- Previous experience or knowledge of Employment Law
- Experience managing a caseload
