We are recruiting on behalf of a leading Yorkshire law firm for a Probate Solicitor or Legal Executive to join their York office.
The role
You will manage a varied private client caseload including Wills, Probate, LPAs and estate administration. The position suits an NQ with relevant experience or an experienced Probate Fee Earner seeking career progression. You will join a supportive, knowledgeable team with a strong client‑care ethos.
Key responsibilities
- Manage your own caseload of Wills, Probate, LPAs and estate matters.
- Handle files from initial instruction through to completion.
- Draft Wills, LPAs and associated documents.
- Deal with new enquiries and provide clear, client‑focused advice.
- Support other fee earners within the department.
- Prepare costs, bill files and recover monies owed.
- Maintain up‑to‑date legal knowledge.
Essential requirements
- 3+ years' experience in Wills and Probate (all PQE levels considered).
- Strong client‑care skills and ability to explain complex issues clearly.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Confident IT skills and ability to follow processes accurately.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible, positive attitude and willingness to travel to nearby offices when needed.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Current Practising Certificate or equivalent.
